Our second Beech Hall collection, CABANA, is here! If you remember, our first collection was inspired by Ancient Egypt. We wanted to go in a completely different direction and explore the tropics for this one. We found inspiration in 1950′s Cuba, Art Deco Miami, Island living and jungle vibes. Check out some of my favorite pieces below and view the full collection online here!

Beech Hall

October 14, 2015

Well, I’ve been a little (a lot) busy lately! Mostly because I’ve been working on launching a new web shop with two of my friends from art school. We’ve been working on Beech Hall for almost a year and are finally ready to share what we’ve made!

Our first collection was inspired by Ancient Egypt and is comprised of home goods, ceramics, and jewelry. I had so much fun making textiles and ceramics for this collection and even have some of my illustrations on jewelry, which is so cool to see! All of my ceramic pieces are one of a kind and won’t be made again.

New Ceramics

Though I’m most comfortable with working two dimensionally, I started to have a lot of sculptural ideas so I decided to devote some time to ceramics. The hardest part for me is how long the process takes from start to finish. A painting can be done in a few hours but most of my ceramic pieces take a few weeks to see fully glazed and completed. I’ve already broken a handful of pieces and have shed a tear here and there. But the agony pays off when something comes out of the kiln exactly how I was imaging it to look.

I recently made a bunch of hand sculpted, hand painted, one-of-a-kind ceramic tees. I started them as ornaments but I think they look cute just hanging on a wall too. While I’m saving most of them for gifts I added some to my online shop. I’m pretty new to working with ceramics so I was just glad that these little guys didn’t break and even more excited that they actually turned out how I wanted them to. I’m thinking about taking some of the artwork and turning them into large-scale patterns. Could be cool!
