Danielle Kroll - inspiration

I’m really into red lately. Can you tell? I bought this issue of Flair magazine on ebay a few years ago – maybe the best $20 I’ve ever spent! I’ve flipped through it so often that most of the pages have fallen out. No matter! Now I can hang the pages on my wall without feeling bad for tearing them out.

This week I was excited to find the old Pink Panther cartoons steaming on Amazon. I don’t know about you, but I have such respect for classic animation. I think the shorts without any dialogue hold up the best, though they are all pretty great in their own way. My favorite has to be The Pink Phink. It was the first animated short film to win an Academy Award, that’s how good it is! The textures are so perfect but you have to see it in motion to really understand. As a fellow pink fanatic, I can really relate to that panther.

Whenever I see plums or gooseberries I inevitably think of my Grandma and Grandpa Joe. They had a magical backyard with a rose garden, rows upon rows of vegetables, a cherry tree, a plum tree and a gooseberry bush. Needless to say, my Grandma cooked up some amazing meals with all that bounty. This photo especially reminds me of those nights we’d spend at their dining room table, eating plum cake, sipping tea and playing Rummy 500. I wrote a little bit more about my grandparent’s house on my old blog, back in 2011.
